How it works
Scan a product, trace the company, and see the parent at the top. Public data only.
What happens when you scan
- Your camera reads the barcode. The photo stays on your phone. We only get the number.
- We look that number up in Open Food Facts for the name, brand, and any company info they have.
- Then Wikidata, for owners and parent companies.
- Then GLEIF, for the legal company name and its parents, if they have a record.
What you might see
- Brand
- The name on the package.
- Manufacturer
- Who made or packed it, if that's listed.
- Legal entity
- The registered company name, if we find a match.
- Direct parent
- The company that owns that one.
- Ultimate parent
- The top of the chain, when the records show one.
Confidence
We don't guess. Every result has a score and links to the sources we used.
- High: names match and the sources agree.
- Medium: decent match, some backup.
- Low: thin or conflicting info.
- Unverified: not enough to go on.
